The Whitening Co are on a mission to make New Zealand smile more, and smile with confidence, so Trudi Nelson interviewed founder Kennedy Anderson to find out how they’re doing it.
Kennedy explained that there are so many low quality and hard to use teeth whitening solutions in New Zealand. “They’re either not very safe, not very effective, or they can be effective, but they come with the dental price tag”
The Whitening Co are different in that they create and test all their own formulars and every ingredient or material surrounding the product is thought about. As a starting point Kennedy looked at the ten top teeth whitening products in the category in New Zealand, wrote down the three best things about each and then simply replicated or improved on them so the team could say with confidence that they had the best teeth whitening products on the market.
The back story behind Kennedy getting into teeth whitening involved buying some dodgy teeth whitening solutions online when he was younger and he burnt his gums with the poor quality products. That lead to Kennedy wanting to create something that was safe but that people were excited to use as well.
There are two ways The Whitening Co help people with their smiles. The first is with in studio whitening at their Ponsonby Road studio. The second is with at home whitening kits that come with a range of product options and flavours.
Kennedy works with his sister Brierley who he says is great at “handling him with all his craziness and vice versa” and with his partner Oliver who Trudi believes is the wind beneath his wings but Kennedy also sees Oliver as the organised “ying” to the creative “yang” of him and his sister. Everyone in the Whitening Co company has an important role but that’s more about making people smile than selling teeth whitening products – that’s what the brand is all about.
